Default Battery Disconnect Switch

Who makes a reliable 3 pole battery disconnect switch? I've had my 3rd Longacre switch fail this past weekend. Fortunately it failed in the paddock "after" the race. These things are junk...

I am using the Cartek electronic switch, It is not cheap but there are no mechanical parts. As a plus it has built in battery run down protection.

I believe anything good and less likely to fail is much more expensive.

Curious if you "use" the switch. By that I mean do you power off the car completely when not in use so that the switch is being used a lot.

On my car I have a power switch separate from the battery disconnect so mine does not get used - it just stays on during race season and gets turned off for the winter.

i had the low power circuit fail on mine. they are really cheap crap. almost cost me a weekend because i had to take mine apart to work to pass tech and even then, it was marginal . i bought a new one and since then it has been ok. but i suspect its going to be a 4 year wear item, unless i step up and buy one that is much more expensive.

Yes, I use the switch. I turn it off over night on race weekends and turn it off during transport and storage between races.

I'm not concerned as much about price as I am reliability...

Ouch.... that sucks. Fortunately mine failed in the paddock as I was driving to my pit from impound. Had to push the car.

Then look at the Cartek (very, very good stuff) or one from this page https://milspecwiring.com/store/inde...y&path=140_185

Here's a link for the Cartek unit https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/pr...sp?RecID=11466

I know that wipers in switches like to be worked a little after they have sat for a while, in order to clean off contaminants like oxidation that may have developed. I've got one of the Longacres in my car and after hearing stories like these, I keep a new spare in my track box. Here are a couple options I stumbled upon when looking at other switches. I don't know if the mechanical one is any better than the Longacre, but at least specs are provided. If you know how to select components, the isolators look like they may be a alternative to the Cartek, that could save some $$.

Cartek or Kisslinger is the only product we use. Never had a failure with the Kisslinger over the years.

I've been using this kind for 20+ years and haven't had one fail yet. I've gotten mine from Pegasus minimize the chance of getting crap. Not clear if this is Longacre or some other brand.
