Default Need recc for OBD2 code scanner

Any of you guys have a recommendation for an OBD2 code reader for a 2012 Cayman R. I get warning lights etc from time to time and I'd like to see what's up while I'm at the track. I'd like one that can read and reset.

Thanks
Jeff

Thanks - I saw that one. Do you use it? Will it actually clear fault codes or just report them. I see mixed feedback on what it can actually do

Thanks
Jeff

I haven't bought it yet, plan to in the next few weeks. People claim it clears the basic codes (service reminders, etc.). I drive a 991 so the real question is, does it clear fault codes for YOUR car.

You can read about it in the 991 forum, that's where I found it:

I agree that 'reading' the ODB port is one thing, but extracting useful data from CAN or resetting fault codes is another level all together.

Good luck

For a generic OBD2 code reader just get a wifi/BT dongle for 20 bucks on amazon and get the Torque ap for your phone. Reads and clears OBD2 codes, and can display all pertinent info including fuel trims and things useful for diag.

Can you provide a link? I paid close to $200 for the OnPoint Bluetooth ODB dongle, it doesn't reset anything and I was a bit disappointed with what it captured off of the bus (i.e. it will capture throttle position but not break, doesn't grab g's off of the car's actual accelerometers, no steering position, etc.).

And

https://torque-bhp.com/forums/?wpfor...iewforum&f=1.0

I've used that on about 10 different cars to scan and reset codes etc. Just go to Android ap store, or whatever the iPhone one is, and DL the Torque ap.

Unsure if it will read the G data or if it will only read the phone's accelerometer.

Thanks, looks like it might be better than the one I have. I am limited to Apple's implementation of Bluetooth (still using an iPhone) so I will need to do a little research.
