Default For those who have tried several HANS any diff?

Looking to buy a HANS before my next track day. For those that have worn different units was there any difference or do they all "disappear" once you start driving on the track? Are the ultra light "Pro" versions worth the money?

i have the pro unit and like it a lot. it is not heavy, comfortable and yes you won't notice it. a key piece of safety equipment in my opinion.

I wouldn't worry too much about the weight of the various Hans Devices. You won't feel any difference once you are strapped in. Buy the cool carbon fiber model if you want. But it won't won't make any difference.

If you can get to a place to try them on its worth it. Even if you know the model there are different sizes and angles (for different seat positions).

Take a look at the III. Lot lighter than the II, and easy to Cary around

I have found that my old HANS (30 degree) which was comfortable with Euro GT3 seats, does not feel as good with my new Porsche LWB seats. Its important to try the HANS with the seat you're going to use.

Try the two different release systems too. I didn't like the one with strings (quick release?).

As far as I understand the quick click are now prohibited in a variety of racing organizations.

New Schroth HR Flex is a great option.

Get the gel pads instead of the standard.

Or save yourself some money by replacing the crappy foam with some higher density foam. They use a low grade packaging foam in the standard pads. A cheap alternative is slicing a section from a firm foam pillow. Pillow might cost $15-$20 bucks but you will have enough material to make a zillion pads.

I'm in the elastomer business, offered the original folks a really nice alternative but the boss wasn't interested as they make $$$$ selling the gel pads. Was going to offer my solution as an aftermarket option but they let me know the wouldn't appreciate the competition for the pad business.

The new Schroth design fits differently so the pads are not an issue, much better design in my opinion.

I have the older Pro CF version and it's super uncomfortable and digs into my shoulder blades/collar bone even with a HANS style harness. Trying to find something that's better.

I love my Necksgen Rev.
It doesn't have the "yoke" and is so much more lightweight and comfortable than the versions that have the "yokes" (for me at least) .
Also because it is "yokeless" you don't have to buy one at a specific angle, or adjust it to a certain angle if you have different cars (or ride in student cars with proper belts) that have a different seat angle.
