Default Few laps around Imola last weekend in the Proton Porsche 991 RSR.

It was my first time at the track and I didn't have many laps to learn it (around 25 before the race started, including in/out laps), but the place is amazing. Beautiful location rite in the city center and lots of elevation/camber changes. Very old school and lots of fun to drive!

Great! Take a moment to ponder what Tamburello was in its original configuration--Piquet and Bergers massive crashes, and Senna's death there?

You just can't imagine what a location Imola is until you visit. There are villas around the circuit where the yards are like what you see at a golf course, blending into the track grounds. Only in Italy could you have such a course. And yes, there is a shrine to Senna, it is a little chilling to see the "spot".

I wish F1 would keep traditional tracks like this in the circuit...

It was kind of surreal to walk the track the day before our first practice session. It was mostly empty and seeing all the things people leave or write on the wall where Senna made contact and the memorial in the park inside the track made it hard to focus on the track walk. It's a beautiful place-- not only a track.

Very cool. I dated a woman from Imola 20+ years ago and used to go there to watch open track days. Happy they are racing there again.
