Review of my first ever DE
#62
Incidentally, we gave Green a proper send-off with this bit of shenanigans.
We were lucky enough to have two great instructors this past weekend who trusted us enough to have some serious fun out there. Cat and Mouse. Surprise wrong-side pass signals. Double passes on the back straight. This was the most fun I've had in a DE yet.
It had poured rain earlier in the morning and I think a lot of the Green drivers either didn't show up at all on the Sunday or left early since the forecast said it would rain all afternoon. It didn't. There ended up only being a handful of cars left so even though we were both promoted to Yellow, we ran the final session in the Green group and made that video above.
Pay no mind to the part where I nearly drive off the right side of the back straight. I may have been watching my mirrors a bit too much but it was all under control.

It looks like you had a unique opportunity to learn more about passing and being passed.

We also nearly had a unique opportunity to find out what it's like to be black flagged. Lucky for us, either the flaggers didn't notice or they were nice enough to just let us have our fun. We didn't do anything dangerous, but one of those passes may not have been entirely within the rules.
We also learned afterward from the instructors that when you see the checkered flag, you can still make a pass so long as you can complete it before passing the flag. You can see him giving me the pass at the end and me not taking it. I hesitated because of the checkered flag but found out after that the other instructor told my friend to give the pass specifically because of the flag and to see whether we'd take it or not. My instructor then explained the scenario.
So there really was a whole lot of instruction going on during this run that most people probably don't get the opportunity to experience.
If anyone involved reads these forums and sees this thread, I'll put another heartfelt THANK YOU here for making that happen.
