Default Roll Bar

I'd figure i try and post over on this forum since there are a lot of racers. This is the same thing that i posted on pelican.
1st
I have a safety devices roll bar that i'm installing. Problem is that the b@stard is one tight fit. As anyone else had problems getting one of these things in? I noticed i have slight gaps on the left side mount shoe attatched to the bar.
2nd
I'll see if i can locate some pics to post to explain the issue. But basically the front shoes that bolt to the plates that are welded to the chassis are what i'm concerned about. The left one, although sits flat against it from a horizontal stand point, the front vertical part of the shoe that sits up against the side of the chassis rail has about a 1/4 inch gap while the back of the same side of the shoe sits flush. The right shoe has no problems and sits flat all around. Any ideas?

Check with Bob Kacasick at Stable Energies
http://www.stable-energies.com/
He actually did a video of the install on my car. I don't know if it's available but he installed bunches of them.

Is it from a wrecked car? I have seen some bent ones from wrecked cars.

A friend of mine installed a Safety Devices roll cage, and found that he had to use several large clamps to pull the main roll bar hoop portion into place to install it.

I installed one in my SC several years ago. I had a few issues as it would not seat properly on all four corners or bolt up easily to the plates. I ended up using a come-a-long to pull the bar side to side or diagonally to help it fit better.

The second issue was that I was given parts of different diameters.

Third issue was that the door bars had a mating flange on the rear hoop, but not on the front legs. Had to get those welded on.

Felt like I was building a Jungle Gym in my car.

Of all the cages I looked at though, the Safety Devices was the best one, but it was a bitc* to install.

My current 930 already had one in it when I bought and it fits like a glove.

I still might need more tips, someone told me to bolt on the harness bar before tacking the front plates to the chassis. I have and it straightened a bit but still not perfect. I'm going to take a more recent pic and see what you guys think tonight. What's a come along, and how did you use large clamps without damaging the outside body?

Ok, this is a previous pick before i fitted the plates and bolted the harness bar to it, imagine that same gap on the left side but maybe 2/3 of it still exists. And although the picture isn't clear, the gap only resides in the front where you see it, the back is flush enough to weld.
