Default PFC08 replacement (maybe) pad conundrum..

Hi All

I'm running a 997.1 C2S aerokit with road tyres down here in NZ. Also with GT3 cooling ducts and some small mods. Road car with maybe 10 track days per year with the rennsport gruppe downunder.

I am currently running PFC08 pads front and rear and the time has come to replace the fronts but PFC are just not available down under and costs quite a bit to get sent over from the US.
Pad sizes: Front 2474pagid /7818 PFC

So, either I continue with PFC08 or change both axles to something else - but what else? I dont really want to go pagids due to fellows having issues with being stuffed after half worn and excessive noise. We have a lot of Endless here but reasonably expensive, and varied feedback.
I do not want to have 2 sets of pads.

What I like:
  • Always stops like the hand of god
  • Again and again and again - you get the picture.
  • Once I used some antisqueal paste, V V quiet on the road.
  • Excellent from cold.
  • Last a long time - V good wear.
What I dont like:
  • Lots of black dust
  • Overwhelms the front tyres
  • V hot on calipers. Dust boots are all cracking.
  • Rotor wear, average - i guess.
So I am willing to compromise on the stopping power as they are more than I need anyway, but not wanting a squealer. Would like to cut down on dust and be a bit more friendly to calipers and rotors.
I've tried EBC red and yellow. Stopped great but crumbled and stuffed the rotors.
Pagid Blue - Big brown moment and crumbled and stuffed the rotors.

I'm possibly thinking Endless MX72 - dunno really. The problem is the expense of getting the pfc's sent here.

Thoughts? Much appreciated.

I switched to Ferrodo DS.11. They are much easier on rotors. Flatter friction to temperature profile. Easy to modulate. Price is reasonable. No issues at COTA with braking on Hoosiers.

Front rotors after a weekend at TWS and a weekend at COTA on hoosiers.

That looks like pad material depositing?

Ceramic pads tend to put more transfer material down. There are no hot spots, etc.

Sounds like you are very happy with the PF08. We stock them and we ship all the time down your way. If you'd like, give us a call or send us an email to info@ogracing.com and we will be happy to provide you with a shipping quote. Also you may want to consider getting more than one set to save you on the shipping costs since the shipping will be less per box.

Kind regards,

08s are the most current - 11s as well (higher friction)

Kind regards,
Mark knows more about 993, 996 and 997 brakes and what works on them. Trust him and his knowledge.

And if you're ever visiting our area and fly into Washington Dulles airport let us know as we can pick you up and give you the tour of our 12,000 sq ft warehouse/showroom. We pride our selves on having the largest inventory of PFC/Pagid and all the other things track junkies want. It hasn't been a back of the truck/kitchen table operation in over 20 yrs. We know PFC pads and what works and have been using and selling them for 20+ yrs. For us PFC is not just the latest pad to sell to make money. We believe in the pad and how well it performs.

Bill
