Bernie has yet another crazy idea for F1

You qualify on pole, you will start in 10th spot. WTF?! :banghead:

Senile old man.

There is only one way to fix F1 - change the rules so that they can all race flat out.

Carrera51 02-22-2016 05:28 PM

Good grief....

Bigger stickier tires, more mechanical grip and less aero grip so the cars can run close together. Like the cars had in the early 1990s. Front wing and a rear wing. Clean bodies without all the little aero appendages all over the car.

PJorgen 02-22-2016 05:33 PM

The only new rule that F1 needs is that crazy old men can't be in charge.

And a sound track that isn't reminiscent of a flatulent UPS truck...

YES !! I loved how "clean" the cars from like 1988-1992 were. Simple. Go karts with 900+ HP engines. And a stick. I dont care that semiautomatic is faster or more durable / reliable. I wanna see someone controlling a monster again. And to VR's point, I WANT IT LOUD.

^^^^ Yes!

Something like this:

They do something like that in the BTCC but they have multiple races at one event--IIRC the order of the top ten finishers in the first race is inverted for the second.

WTCC

race 2 is always top 10 of qualifying inversed.

BTCC way better than WTCC (i.e. French mfg showcase)

2015 BTCC, race 1 qualify, race 2 race 1's fastest lap (use to be winner of race 1), 3rd race, reverse grid random picked number 6 thru 10, grid 1 thru number picked reversed (# picked+1 on back as finished in race 2) Makes for great racing! No winning in the pit stop, 1 soft tire set and 2 hard tire sets, you pick which race to run which.

Did I mention great racing.

YES !!! Goddamn ! Now we are talking ! I actually loved the look of the "91 McLaren. I think the prettiest car ever. God would I love to have the chance to drive one of those. FWIW, the car was a POS, but the '91 Lambo was stunning as well. To bad the thing didnt start at all...

You will never get away from one team dominating in some way for a period in F1. BUT, it was often the fights a litter further back in the field that were the race, and to see the drivers handling monsters and battling with other trying to do the same that appealed to me.

Finally, I get the safety push, but the tracks dont help at all and no great tracks with "balls" corners that separate drivers that much anymore. Part of what I love about Spa and Eau Rouge and the old Lesmos at Monza and Tamburello at Imola.

Or you could do the exact opposite......

You'd have to give the fastest qualifier a point or two, so there is something to go for.
That, and just trim the front wings back and it woudn't be so bad.
Too much is riding on those snow plows.
