if you see a fuel fire, once, up close in person, you'll wear your full fire gear.

its not unlike a Saturn 5 rocket lift off, the heat of the sun, or steel smelting. damn hot!

Can't imagine why you wouldn't. I'd wear it around town if it was socially acceptable 😁

I stood in fire fully attired on a sweltering VIR day trying to push my car. It was friggin hot and my heart was pounding.
Speedsport crew broke the rules and jumped over the fence and put the fire out! Thank you very much!
This was also when I learned that pulling my fire suppression resulted in a dribble of foam. So that got all replaced!

I wear my suit going to the gas station down the street for $3.25/gal vs. $7.00 at the track between sessions.

Who wears nomex under the racing suit?
If yes, do you wear it every time? Or only for races?

Last year I made it a point to ALWAYS wear nomex undies/socks/long sleeve shirt/balaclava in Nomex every time I got in the car.

Well by definition any undies for me have to be long.
In reality, I wear long ones when it's cooler and short ones in the heat.

Makes sense...I like the long nomex in spring and late fall.
But I live in the south, and Summer Season is a whole 'nother animal. For ex I did Sebring in July: my nonstop sweating was, compared to social norms, at a criminal level.
I'm wondering if they make a Borat-style mankini or just a regular thong in nomex.
Anyone out there know?

What is the objective of wearing nomex underwear under a suit? Another layer of protection or does it serve a different purpose in combination with the suit?

Extra time to protect you know what unless you don't plan to use it later in life.
