Default Hoosier tire sizes for 987.2

I'm thinking of changing from MPSC to Hoosier R7 for next season.

I have stock wheels and have been using MPSC 235 in front and 265 in rear.

Hoosiers come in 225/40, 245/40, 255/35 and 285/30 as likely sizes for my car.

Will the 245 and 285 fit, or must I use the 225 and 255?

TIA,

fred

Fred- assuming you have OEM width wheels the safe bet is 245/35/18 front and 275/35/18 rears. We have some guys running as large as 255/35 front and 295/30/18 rears.

Let us know if we can help.

THANKS FOR THE INFO !!!!

Will those larger tires (245/35/18 front and 275/35/18) fit on my stock wheels, and inside my stock fenders?

or might there be rubbing?

TIA -- I really appreciate your help on this.

I used to run the 245/295 combo on my Cayman and needed a 5mm spacer upfront and a 10mm spacer in the rear to make that fit.

FRANK -- but with the spacers you had no rubbing?

and what would have happened if you hadn't used spacers?

Without the spacers I had rubbing on the inside (front and rear) but I have to add that my ride height is extremely low and that I run in excess of 3 deg camber up front on some tracks - should have mentioned that previously.

Any idea if the body is appreciably different between Cayman and Boxster in respect to this issue?

Hoosier recommends 8.5-10" for the 255-35 and 10-11" for the 285-35.

As long as you have oem ride height and a reasonable alignment (2-2.5 degrees camber) you'll be fine.

And that was with R6's, the R7's have proven to run a bit wider for some reason and rubbed on cars that had no issues with R6's.

Gary - that was actually with R7s. I had no issue in the rear with R6s
