Hoosier R7 vs R6
Hi Gang,
I have a 2007 GT3.1 and I normally use 315/30/18 and 245/35/18 Hoosier R6's. I have a new set of rears and cannot find a set of R6 fronts but only R7's
Anyone know where I can get a set of 245's (new or practically new?)? I cannot use 255's as I have not rotated my struts.
Has anyone mixed R6's and R7's? Thanks.
Tom

I had the same problem towards the end of last season on my '83 911 race car. I ended up running R7s on the front and R6s on the rear which was the only thing available in the sizes I needed. Even though they were the same size by the numbers, the R7s were actually a few mm wider than the R6s were and the front fender sheet metal had to be "massaged" a bit to make some additional tire clearance.

I have heard the R7
irrespective of the stated width, may be in actuality up to 9mm wider..I went from a 285 down to a 275...no ill affects...
Re. R6 VS R7, couldn't tell much difference other than the width bias of the R7 VS the R6.

Thanks guys. Fortunately I located a relatively new set of 245 R6's and also bought a set of new R7's. I'll be doing comparison runs in a couple of weeks at NJMP Lightning.
