I've raced NOLA and find the facility excellent and the track pretty good for not having any elevation changes. I intend to return. I am worried that the esses are gone? I loved the 5th gear entry in a momentum car and left foot braking just enough to stay on track.

Esses are still there. Indy Car didn't use them but most other folks do.

Yep, all the DE groups run the 2.75 mile config, which includes the esses.

One other point: I did a DE at another track recently and it seemed that every other session was shortened by black flags caused by people going off or having breakdowns that required recovery vehicles to go out on track immediately. On tracks with typical small runoff zones, this can be a big problem. At NOLA, the runoff zones are huge and the track surface is very wide. So in addition to being safer, black flags in DE's at NOLA are relatively rare.
