Thank you for posting. Track looks interesting (and not too far away) but what's up with all the exposed concrete walls and unprotected rocky outcrops? One bad off could end up badly there it appears?....

BTW, any sound restriction at Palmer MP?

Looks like a fun track. Maybe its a TX thing, but to me, doesn't look to have a whole lott'a runoff.

No, it doesn't appear to on the video. Lack of runoff is more understandable on old historic tracks (like Watkins Glen, for example), but a little surprising on a brand new track. I suspect it would've cost too much money to level all those hills, rocks, trees, etc., to have larger runoff areas....

Theres plenty of run off area.It literally was the first day .If you don’t like run off don’t go to the Glen!
Actually I don’t know any track thats great to go off on!
Its really a great road racing track.

Many of the tracks in TX have great run off. While I don't recommend making offs a habit, at places like TWS there are very few places where offs are really bad and they don't have a lot of wall to hit. The biggest danger in places like this is having an off after it has rained and getting the car sideways in the mud, inducing a rollover. Fortunately, it doesn't happen very often.

Run off at COTA is pretty incredible. Generally there is a large asphalt runoff the size of a parking lot, a gravel trap, and then the high tech barriers.

The Glenn's Blue Bushes are legendary. I know a local that had an oops there and just brushed the armco with his door handle, transferring some of that blue paint. When he later took the car in to get it detailed, he left specific instructions not to remove it.

Eastern tracks look very "tight" to me. Still, I'd drive them if given the chance. "Driving" Watkins Glenn in Grand Prix Legends is one of the things that got me into this sport. Would love to drive the real thing someday.

Seems like that track's going to eat cars.. not because of the runoff, but because there are numerous blind turns right after a rise. I printed out a map and still kept getting lost.

OP: What's with all the wheel sawing? Car, surface, or lack of confidence/comfort with the track?

Oh, I love the Glen - let runoffs be damned! I was just surprised that a brand new track would have all those concrete walls, burms, trees, huge rocks, etc., so close to the tarmac.....

But I will take your word for it and look forward to trying it in the (hopefully near) future. Thanks.

Thankx Ron!
Looking forward to going....... lots of blind corners, how was it on tires? Did it tend to chew them up? Brand new pavement, how was the grip? Tough to see from your video, was there any curbing/turtles?

Always nice to see a new track open in the neighborhood but I agree with the comments about runoff being scarce. It looks very old school from that point of view.

That being said,....anyone know about sound limits?

From their web page;

The default sound limit is 96 decibels on the A scale measured at 50 feet from the track edge. Vehicles violating the dB limit will be black flagged and not allowed on track without corrective measures. Three strikes: you are done.

Ron,
I'm assuming no noise problems for you?
