No doubt. Every time I check it gets more fun, up to 3" now. Maybe some of the 100,000+ SXSW'ers will think twice next year.

As of 6:46 AM CST March 19:
Friday Rain chance is still 70%, was 70% yesterday, and 60% the day before
Saturday Rain chance is now 90%, was 80% yesterday, and 70% the day before
Sunday Rain chance is now 10%, was 50% yesterday, and 20% the day before

I guess in addition to my NT-01 "Rains" I will be installing before leaving today, I'll adapt the cold air intake into a snorkel and bring my scuba flippers to get around the paddock. Looks like a good weekend to have a friend in a garage.

The one thing that may save us is I've noticed on the 3 day history that Austin has gotten squat for rain and IIRC the forecast for that period called for a lot of rain.

If you've seen Lake Travis, it's obvious that Austin needs the rain, I'm just making a prayer request that the deluge just gets rescheduled to start on Monday.

See you guys tomorrow.

Jack Bauer voice: "Dammit!"

Should not have taken another look, now its 70%-100%-40% for Fri-Sat-Sun.

Oh well, loadin' up and headin' out.

The Pumpkin is here. She doesn't like rain much but had a great time Friday. Planning on a full day tomorrow. The KCRPA contingent is here in force, soggy, but having a good time

Hey I saw the "pumpkin". All things considered a great event. I had 3 excellent students and got to practice car control skating around COTA in the rain on inappropriate NT-01s and using an Armstrong Defogger. I should be able to put a highlight reel.

I think that was the most on-time schedule I've ever seen at a DE/Club Race event.

I do have to admit the Porsches running in the BMW club race was a bit odd.

Kind of like a Porsche thread being hijacked by BMWCCA DUDES

Well I have a BMW and a porsche and it was a well done event. It did run right on schedule by a lot of great volunteers and the cayman still lost to a BMW in both the short race and the enduro.

Had a blast with the spec boxster in the instructor group. First time on COTA and was not disappointed! Wish we could have had some better weather though! BMW group ran an efficient event. A few quirks, but overall, well done!

Video highlights from the weekend. Saw some really good driving and had a blast. I have some wet "follies" as well on the NT-01s that I should be able to get posted as well. The rain made for some neat pics, so I'll be springing for the picture DVD as well.

The car is well known to Rennlist, but new to me and I'm still getting used to it. It is setup so well and is so balanced that catching stepouts is just fun:

Took my student out for a ride and got a little bit more than the usual GT3 action on the back straight. The Blue GT3 was coming up on me like I was parked (while doing 122+) and got the point by just before the braking zone into T12. He went deeeeeep, and impressively so (if you listen carefully you can hear the commentary ):

Finally, I scored a new personal best on my last lap of the event. Jayhawk makes an appearance going into the pit at the start:

Car is a heavily modified 1997 M3 that makes wonderful sounds. The microphone captured it perfectly with the exception that it is LOUDER than that. How modified? Well, it's easier to just say "the taillights are stock". It handles an order of magnitude better than a stock E36 and I no longer have any excuses. Hand of God brakes and it can turn and trailbrake like nobody's business. It had never been to COTA and with the 3:46 diff and power band it turned out to be perfectly geared for COTA - no 2nd gear turns for me. The best part: It came that way.

VR:

Haha! Well, the motor is also stock, except for no emissions and a slightly better intake and exhaust. But internals are 100% stock in every way...

Wait til you put the Hankooks on...
