Daytona Classic 24 - my recap
Another fantastic weekend! Great weather, great racing challenges, cool cars and a lot of friends.
I won my class on my 2 liter in all 4 segments of the 24. My lead was so large that when my distributor rotor gave up and stranded me at T5 i still won!
I reset the prior lap record for 2 liter Porsches at Daytona. It was mine before at 2:06:5 now down to 2:04:9 at night!
I drove my Cup for the first time at Daytona (third time on track with it). Got down to 1:51:5 which I hear is pretty good for that car (and no, it ain't a 4 liter, that is the other Juan).
I finished 1st on one of thee Mission GT3 Cup races, 2nd on another one (fuel pickup problem last lap) and 3rd on the Enduro when i had a tire blowout on the infield at the last lap. Argh.
I was asked to drive a segment on Jerry Peters ex Dr Pickett 2 liter 911. What a hoot! Got in 9th and 8 laps later we were 2nd. I set the fastest lap for the car and the whole group beating Haywood and Long in the process
Wish i had another 3 laps or so i could try to catch up the 911R from Brasil after i got stuck in traffic on the infield.
My thanks to my team at 901 Shop for giving me these awesome cars and keeping us nourished during the event. Also to coach extraordinaire Peter Krause (ProCoach) for the words of wisdom and the huge grin every time i got out of the cars.
Last but not least my family and friends for being there and working to keep everything in check. My brother (Killsbugsfast) was there as usual and is always in the background keeping my health in check.
Lets go pro next year
