As Hacker said, what kid hasn't drooled over a childhood poster? Countach and an F40 were what I wanted as a kid. These "kids" as Bernie puts it, go to college, get a job, make their own $$ or inherit their folks $$.

BTW, how many folks over 70 are buying Rolex watches anyway??? First if you can afford one, you've probably bought one way before 70, second, that demographic is probably looking more into long term care insurance and other morbid type of things. My guess is that F1 is not on their radar.

Finally, ask any advertiser and their #1 demographic is males 24-49 because that's who spend the most amount of money. 70 year olds are not what you want as your target market unless Depends, Pepsident and "Buy Gold"commercials are your advertisers. My sincere appology to anyone over 70 who may read this.

This is called age discrimination and it's against the law.

In most, but not all states, you can fire anyone for any reason, except an illegal reason (race, religion, age, etc.)

Not many companies are stupid enough to say "I fired you because you are old" but it sure as hell happens.

Back to the topic - Bernie is out of touch and that is the reason why F1 is going down hill. New blood is needed.

Of course we are. There's only one way to stop getting older, last time I checked - and I'm deferring that action as long as I'm still able to act like a stupid teenager when I feel like it!

Sponsors / tv rights cover the bills, Bernie get richer and small team w/ small budgets are unable to compete or even finish the season. At this pace there will only be a few teams/ manufacturers in the game in the next couple of year. I understand NASCAR has the same problem.........

Young people just aren't in Bernie's time frame. The guy is 84, so anything beyond the next 10 years is irrelevant to him. He's playing the short game now.

The FIA is far more damaging to F1 than Bernie, but Bernie isn't helping it any.

The youth demographic is key to building brand loyalty thru marketing. By the time you are middle age your brand loyalty is set (Coke, Tide, Nivea, Miller, Apple, Levis, BMW, Porsche, Cialis, etc.) That is why marketing wants youth audiences, to win the brand loyalty battle. Not sure that is ever F1's focus. Can't tell what a a lot of F1 Sponsors do or are selling, beyond name recognition. Seems beyond the car manufactures and Red Bull, the rest are just "feel good" advertisers. Can't see Santander or Emirates winning over the youth demo.

But having said that, Berine is an old clown, but a very rich old clown.

So getting older and death are inevitable, we all will deal with it. Those older with vision plan for the next generation to carry on.

What does happen after Bernie is dead. Does he have partners? Something has to be planned.

He doesn't act like he cares about what will happen when he's gone. Just evaluate his decisions based on that and you will see that every consideration is short term.

Well Bernie has said that double points will not happen next year.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/formul...tch-f1-4634946

He also Sid the team owners are idiots for not supporting double points for the last 3 races.

Bernie should play with his new grand son and his great grand children instead of making stupid decisions.

What Bernie and many people forget is that there are many "kids" who have direct impact and influence on the buying decisions of their parents. Also, many parents provide their kids with immense buying power just because... how do you think all these kids are walking around with cell phones and expensive clothes?

Duh... Kids don't have money... but they influence many purchasing decisions from their complacent and indifferent parents who are too drunk and/or high to give a poop what they spend their money on. Well... this is how it works in my family at least! ;-)

I quit formula one around 1998 after bernie in his wisdom moved the Silverstone date into April, and the fields we were parking in were so muddy, they had tractors pulling cars in, as well as out. I have not since watched it or spent a penny on this greedy idiot.

I am sure he really misses my money too.....
