Lynn,

Great information. Kind of thought it was that kind of technlogy progression. So, do you think the SV upgraded engine without restrictors as in the gt3, would have as much HP>> folks are saying the SV cars are around 400+ rear wheel hp now!! sure makes sense as Ive seen them go through all 6 gears nose to tail against 200lbs heavier 470 rear wheel hp vets and 928 porsches.

Default Cup upgrade

The upgrade for the cup car motor is a significant power improvement, but the gears must also addressed to get the optimum performance since the rev limit is raised significantly. Here is an example of the capabilities of the motor in a cup car body. See David Murry's qualifying time in the first qual session at Daytona in 2002. THere was qual #2 the following day, but the team did not go out again. The conditions were better and David would have likely gone a bit faster. Ultimately, taking Q1 and session 2 into account, they were 7th on the grid in GT. Also, the powr and narrow body cup car with this package is close to the GT3RS cars because Daytona is essentially a long straight. In more technical circuits, the cars are not quite as well matched. http://www.grandamerican.com/events2...results_1.html

Default Re: Cup upgrade

yes, the closer gear ratios is an advantage. compared to a 5 speed, regardless of the top speed potential, its an 8% gain, generally, with a cup style 6 speed. (this is the effect with rasing the average HP put to the wheels over the operating range) The even closer ratios with a GT3RS is a small differnce, and a further smaller difference to optimise the final drive for a given track.
