Not pretty, oil over the lens, but here's a 52.2 from the Group 9 winner today. 150 bhp... 6" front, 8" rear wheels (slicks), twenty five years old...

Was that on vintage tires? That is in track record for S2000 territory.

Nope, don't think so. Post the link.

I've seen mimeographed copies of the official race results showing Steven Johnson posting that record at Lime Rock Park in 1993. You can see it in Rich Taylor's Lime Rock book. Pre-internet, maybe? Hahahaha!

Tires for vintage are the same tires allowed on last regs for National class S2, rim width is restricted.

I stand corrected! Steven and a few others have done better than a 52.0 according to pro race results but Ben broke that 52.4 several times this weekend! I can only do 53.3! Thanks!

Those are all flying laps. I'm sure with more than a single visit in the year you could get into the low 52s. I think Lime Rock really rewards familiarity and regular, consistent practice.

Wow! Fun to watch. The best I've done in a 2011 M3 street car and my 991S is 1:02s. Hoping to break into sub-minute territory with the 991S. This Group 9 winner is no faster than me at the end of the front straight or no-name straight, but he sure carries a lot more speed through the corners--20+mph faster.

It's not the "handling in the straights" that counts, it's how little you slow...
