It's good to hear. I think the problem with scored cylinders is more related to geographical regions where we get cold temps. All the people I know who had the problem also drive their cars in cold temps and winter. There is also a 3.4l that I know was purely track driven, slicks and single mass fly wheel. Never had an issues with it, though it was never winter driven, he races a GT3 cup now.

Default 4 - 5 Years on the track?

"Baby" has been on the track, 4 - 6 times a year since 2001. She has about 82,000 miles on her, street and track, and produced the following leak down #'s:
1: 6%
2. 2%
3. 4%
4. 5%
5. 4%
6. 3%

On top of this, in February of 2014, she produced 262 HP to the rear wheels on a DynoJet dyno. The motor is bone stock other than a Fabspeed X pipe, cat delete pipes and Maxflow mufflers. As you can see in the enclosed pic, "baby" beats up on old SCs, Boxsters and a 944, like taking candy from a baby!

996 as a race car motor? I am sure that lots of folks have had great luck, but some haven't. The real down side, if you blow a 996 motor and damage the case, 996 cases (3.4 & 3.6) are very difficult to find. If one were to grenade a 996 motor, they may have to go to a 997 motor...and I believe a 997 wiring harness would be required.

If I had a 996 and the motor blew, I'd instill a Corvette motor using the Renegade Hybrids (RH) Las Vegas, NV kit. Some have postulated that an aero equipped 996 with an aluminum Corvette motor would be good for top speeds that are unfathomable, in excess of 180 mph...probably need a longer ring and pinion...then off to the Bonneville Salt Flats!!!!

I may be selling my car. I sent you a PM.

+5yrs and +100 hrs hard track hours on 3.4 with usual oil mods with no meaningful issues.
