Chin Motorsports goes to COTA

Right, that is what I was thinking about--large groups (Chin, PCA, etc) buy annual policies, and just need to give the dates of their events to their carrier.

PCA, BMWCCA, etc still pay for each and every DE (as far as I know) on top of their policy that covers rallies, social events, etc. Chin is bigger than I thought, so they are probably in the middle tier of insured groups. I have no idea what they pay per event, but I would bet it's not cheap.

The point is, these events can be HIGHLY profitable, even at super-expensive venues like COTA. Groups like MVP, Chin, Drivers Edge, etc are for-profit ventures...they do not rent tracks like COTA on a whim. Again, PCA made a LOT of profit last May...

In that case the DE'ers, who were bent over and told to smile, should've received a partial refund: shortened and/or cancelled sessions, etc.

Chin is already at $599 per two-day event(except that 2 days at sebring is $50 more/weekend)....at tracks that rent for a lot less than COTA. It will be interesting to see what their COTA fee is. Chin's std schedule gives each run grp 120 minutes/day then a 1 hr open track session at end of the day if you want it. MVP at COTA was $1375 for three days...with 100 min/day iirc.
