Big Brother at your next PCA race

They attached it to my SP3 car for Sprint 2 in the orange group. Scrutineer said it was a modified AiM based system. They attached a wire to one of my spark plugs and attached the "device" to my roll cage... took only a few minutes to put on and take off...

It's tough, but somebody has to.
(It actually is a reason I push to go faster all the time - just to keep up with my mouth...).
If I can't, I merely pack up and go home...
For the record, I know JR keeps pushing for NASA type wt/hp classing. I don't like the idea for PCA. GT is fine where it is, and for the other stuff, we can go run NASA. If we go to the wt/hp thing, I'll wager that most of the same guys would still be lengths in front at the end of the day.

It went on both cars I drove over the weekend. Its a modified AiM device and plugs into the OBD. I have no problem with it it other than it seemed to be a bad omen for me for on track incidents with the car it was in. I understood why after I finished 26s in front of the second place SPB in sprint 1. They also had come around and measured the bore and stroke of my motor the day before. And it was weighed after sprint 1. Glad to know I am all legal.

That sounds cool. Might be a Solo DL with an RPM bridge, but I didn't think that worked...

I like it.
Not the same but NASA put a trackmate in my car at the starting grid after I qualified on Pole once. Although the feedback is simple telemetry with that vs what you are discussing I still like the "digital referee"

For older cars, it's a battery powered EVO4 with an inductive RPM pickup and boost measure and for newer cars, a Solo DL. Really tidy, really cool, really powerful.
BTW, the Traqmate/AiM comparison and the principals used are the same. Any decent logging system, as long as it's the same kind using the same software, can perform these comparisons.
The measures taken and scrutinized are similar using Newton's Second Law. Weights are known, generally, and sometime, somewhere, if people are driving a representative lap, unalloyed performance will be observed.
RPM and Boost provide additional information and help eliminate spurious "noise" in the Long G, but the measures taken are simple and few. This calculation is how inertia dynos work, as opposed to brake dynos.

Lots of groups do this now. I think it has the benefits of car parity along with giving the organizers a better idea of the exact performance potential of the cars. This can affect things like tech requirements, track layouts, etc. At the end of the day, this will be good for the participants and organizers.
