Daytona Club Race
Thanks to Allen Shirley and the Florida Crown and Citrus Regions for putting on a great event this past weekend. Nearly perfect weather, great racing, really fun venue. As you can see by the lack of discussion here, a little sparse on the attendance. Only three E cars (which, it must be said, increases one's podium possibilities), lots of SP guys vying for championship points. Only 20 starters in the White Enduro Sunday. Daytona is fun, and fast, and worthy of inclusion on your racing calendar if you have an opening, and these guys do a good job of putting on an event. The facilities are first class. Just sayin'.

+1 on a great event. Well organized, great event and some good racing.
What the heck kind of human being asks if there was any carnage? I hope it was a joke.....

The White enduro was green for the entire race. Don't get the myth of the banking/tire failure/wrecks thing. Properly maintained cars with good tires and the proper Daytona setup in terms of alignment function perfectly there. In my view, this was one of the safest races I've attended in a long time. Just needs more participants.

Thanks to Allen and all the PCA volunteers! Great weekend as always. I had a blast racing in GTC3 with James Leslie and Jeffrey Freeman. The latest batch of Michelin fronts seemed to give away in the 2nd sprint race. I couldn't quite get into the 56's like last year.

+1. Daytona was great, and as Phil said, we had a great series of races in GTC3. I thought I had the record for distance to Daytona (I hauled the car down from Minneapolis), but it turns out, there was someone from Utah there, so there's definitely a national draw to this event.
My personal take is that a) there is not a lot of carnage at Daytona, at least nothing like I've seen at Sebring or Road America, b) the track itself is pretty basic and not as interesting to run as Sebring, Road America, Mid-Ohio, etc., c) the venue is fantastic - it's a lot of fun being at Daytona, and d) the organizers do a fantastic job putting it together. I expect to be back next year as well.
It's been a terrific season, guys. The racing itself is a big draw, but the camaraderie of the Porsche club racers is one of the main reasons I do this. Thanks for making club racing so much fun!

That's very well said. Might not be your favorite track ever, but it is Daytona, and it is very cool indeed.

It was a great event! Thanks to Allen, Bob and the entire Florida Crown region. I am surprised more people don't attend this race. Daytona is an awesome place to run.
