ps...just watched the 3rd race. Now that's how you use those kerbs. See too many in car videos where guys seem to drive around them. Can't believe how small the crowd is???

Short course used for V8 Supercars so that the TV coverage will not show 3.4 miles of empty stands...

Those kerbs were added specifically for V8 Supercar and were never there before. They will likely be gone after this weekend.

You can't compare Aussie v8s to anything else. They are the first to drive the short track with the cutoff at turn 6.
Track record is held by Vettel at 1:39.347. This is the full 3.4 miles.
IIRC, cups were in the 2:10-2:20 range at the PCA event. Maybe low 2s from guys like Long and Lally.

I think Aussie V8s were 134.6 in short course. Mid 135's during race.
GT3 Cup car fastest was mid 135 I think. During the race
consistant 136.6.
GT3's couldn't take the curbs as hard -- Aussie V8s looked like rally cars.
Yes the crowds were low -- but this was Saturday -- I don't think the US is used to having "equal" racing Saturday and Sunday. Maybe the crowds will be larger tomorrow.

Fastest Moto GP lap was 2:03.2. Interestingly, Moto GP guys were well over 200 on 11-12 straight (I think Marquez hit 212), while F1 cars were more like 195. You get 27 seconds and change with four wheels and a couple tons of downforce. It's hard to trail brake when your (only) rear wheel is off the ground!

Hope the crowd's are bigger tomorrow. You going Dave?

So if they were added then it's harder to go over them now, now? Yet when they appear pretty flat in other in car video yet people are staying off them like they're poisonous. I know that things aren't as they always appear in video of course. Just an observation.

Tall curbing for sure. the camaro could get up on them , if in error, and ti would inject all kinds of drama into the wheel and be unhelpful.
the biggest problem is that they painted them red so they blend literally right into the red surrounding. sure you can see them, but it would have been smarter to paint them an off color lik ethe tall orange curbings they used in the grand am race. these are taller than those orange thing. it actually looks like just a big pile of asphalt made into a nice 6 inch hill.

It was not an approved passing zone. It's obvious from the video that the RS driver never hestitated, and meanwhile, and I'll bet that the S2000 driver never intended for anyone to go past him at that point.
RS driver did the same thing on the very next lap...
But the worst was when he decided to block my momentum down the straight, race me to T1, and then cut me off once I decided to back off and let him have the the lead back...
If I had been in his right hand seat instructing, I would have had the car black flagged. He was in the wrong run group; he should have pulled out his carpets and gone racing to work out his aggressions elsewhere.

I met the driver of the Orange RS, he was putting down the best DE times of the weekend (high-mid 20s as best I could tell given my times and the fact that he was running away from me). He had a over a hundred laps on track with MVP, so he was pretty frustrated with traffic and speed. Not saying good behavior - passing without points, visibly frustrated, etc - this is how accidents happen - and that behavior also translates into problems in a race.
My favorite move, and I will post this if the smartycam got it, was a black GT3 passing a group of 5 cars going into 12, AS THEY WERE TURNING INTO 12 - no points, just a virtual 'bird' to the whole group. I backed off waiting for the dominos to fall....

Regarding his speed, despite two extra passing zones that I did not have (because I followed instructions), and despite him being in a faster car, I stayed immediately behind him for 4 consecutive laps without getting a point by. His frustration could not have been any higher than anyone elses'.
