Just wondering: in RaceStudio can you combine the Smartycam HD footage with whatever data is being logged by your MXL dash or EVO 4 logger? Apparently this is not possible with the current Smartycam and it will only show the data it logged itself? (got this info from the Belgian importer).

I believe the new versions of AIM products, Smarty Cams and Pista dashes are time stamping data so they can be synchronized. It is my understanding that down the road you will be able to view synchronized video and data, but not yet

That is my understanding, too. RS3 will provide these features that others already have.

Now that's getting interesting!

If that is the case I might save up some pennies for that HD version, when that stuff hits the market and we can combine all the data.

Hmm, so it might not work with the current generation of loggers? (e.g. EVO 4)

Don't sell anything yet. They might do a firmware upgrade to the existing products. They do have a bunch of Engineers working on this project. None of us will know until the products are available to test.

I Hope they make that a software update to the Smarty. No reason why they couldn't.

Good idea!

I don't think there is any question that it WILL work with the CURRENT generation of loggers, specifically the EVO4. I do have some question about whether the older generation, specifically the MXL-Pista, Pro and EVO3, will work with it automatically, but it should be able to do it manually and within the data window, which is what the software is missing right now.

I look forward to it, the one thing missing is the integration of data and video to fill in that missing "why did I do that there on this lap?" piece. Of course if I don't figure out why my MXL-Pista shuts off/on/off for no apparent reason and kills my video while it's at it none of it matters...

Any update on timing for when inventory will be available on the new HD SmartyCam?

No, but you'll get one of the first ones in the country...

I was afraid we might be following the Italian calendar.

I'm racing at Sebring with NASA-FL (first time with them) at the end of the month and have to decide to either bring back my SmartyCam from TX when I am visiting this weekend or risk that the new one will arrive in time. Or not run video. But in my last race I had contact and my video proved to be critical in the outcome of that, so I am now hesitant to run without it.

Yes, we run on the Italian calendar for stuff from them. "Domani, domani.." Translated as "Tomorrow, tomorrow.."

As Jerry noted and posted, they had a successful test at the 12-Hours, so it should not be long.

My advice is t bring back the SC from TX. I'm 90% sure that you'll get it, but for your protection (and I love Jon F at NASA-FL, to ease his workload, too), PLEASE run video...

I tell every one of my race clients who is not currently running an in car camera to do so ASAP, for this exact reason, Rob. PCA also urges this in rookie meetings, IIRC.
