Anyone sold your dedicated track car call it "done"??
Sacriledge, I know. But I'm pondering it. Not tomorrow, but maybe next year or ???
Between life stuff, kids in their teens, and general economic crap (which will hopefully rebound someday in my lifetime ), I have been tracking less and less, but still have to spend to keep her up! So next year, I am pondering lettin her go ...or perhaps the first step and sell the trailex first (and maybe will entertain the thought of street tires and simply driving to/from?? )
I dunno. Anyone go through this? Talk me off the ledge ...or tell me you went over and are the better for it? All thoughts and experience welcome

Sold my 92 964 Euro Cup this past year. Don't regret it. I was no longer able to drive it..
Woke up the next morning, the Earth was still spinning. No big deal.
Kept the enclosed aluminum trailer, thinking it's nice to have around (moving kids, furniture, etc), but I am going to sell that as well.
Easier to just hire a Penske truck when necessary.

Oh yea??? Go buy a boat and then get back to us. At least the car can stay static if need be until you're free to track again... not like my POS hole in the water that has been for sale for 5 years and counting. I couldn't even get the luck of a Hurricane to take her away.

I have considered it but I know it would cost me more to buy all my **** back afterwards.

Yes, I've done it a couple of times. Sold the racecar in '92 to buy my first house. Bought another car before I bought the house, and ran it once in 92, once in 93, and then just ran autocrosses with it until 97, when I ran it one weekend and then sold it. I was without a racecar until 2003, when I bought my first 944 and joined Rennlist. That year I did a Russell school, but the 944 sat in the garage. Last year I got back into it, I ran 944 spec with NASA, 3 race weekends, and I'll probably only do 3 or 4 this year.

Thought about it seriously when I totaled my almost new race car. I decided I didn't want to go out that way, so I rebuilt it over two+ seasons. Started racing again last year.
Told my wife this was going to be a big year racing. Now she is asking me softly if I am going to sell the car at the end season. I told her my fear is that I would want back in within a year or two and would overspend to replace it all.
Her reply was, "well you only have $25K in it anyway, whats the big deal?" If she only knew...
