Default View of COTA from 996 GT3

Finally got some video up of the event at the Circuit of the Americas. I only had 2 dry sessions, and this video was the second session. Times were dropping every session (15 second drop from the wet session! and 5 seconds from the first dry!) And there are still a few more seconds out there for me. But man oh man, it was AWESOME. The facilities are world class, the track is wide, consistent and literally awesome to drive. I've never driven anything like it. Still grinning ear to ear!

I hope everyone gets to make it out there some day. It really is something to put on the bucket list!

very cool, thanks! I'll be there in a few weeks with MVP in my track-modded 996 C2, so this helps a lot.

out of curiosity, what tires were you on?

There is an easy 5-10 seconds there. Looks like driving on a billiard table.

Great video - thanks for sharing. I was there on Saturday in my 997.1 GT3, but it was pretty much wet the entire day.

For those who weren't there, COTA was watching this event VERY closely as a litmus test for future organized track events. The DE group who ran the event implored everyone to dial in back a little and be extra courteous, so as not to ruin it for everyone going forward. From what I heard, there weren't any notable incidents.

Oh Boy wait until the FL GT3DE Cup boys get there in Feb. At least Clarke isn't registered so we may have chance.

It was like driving on a pool table. The track surface is so nice, that you come off the track and your tires look like they were just cleaned. No clag or junk on the line. Pretty funny.

Also, the Ferrari 458 Challenge cars were running 2:18s or so in race trim, which is about the same times as the Gold Cup cars at the same race (Fast Platinum cup car was at 2:13). If I drop 10 seconds, I'd be at 2:22/23. I'm fairly confident my almost 10 year old street car won't come within 5 seconds of new Ferrari/Cup car or within 10 seconds of the 997 cup cars. There may be another 5 seconds in my car with a good driver. Unfortunately, I don't think there's 10 more seconds for my no droving self.

GoPro Hero 3 Black. Racelogic Performance box provides the data.

Thanks, slow corners look torturous, the fast parts very challenging.

The slow corners are VERY slow, probably slower than any you have ever driven. Heck, even Lewis Hamilton was only doing 45 mph in the slowest one...

A pox on COTA for screwing up the DMTD event.
