I was told by my helmet vendor, a rennlist sponsor, that the SA2010 helmets had beefed up the anchor HANS anchor points. I race slowly and use an open face helmet, but my judgment is regularly called into question.

I addressed the question why some belts are not suitable with HANS, as replied above to the factory 6-point belts.

It wasn't intended as a reply to the R3 solution.

The Schroth Anti-submaring belts come to mind as they are designed to spread the load by lengthening on one side. Even with standard belts, in a multiple impact or roll-crash scenario I don't have faith that belt wedged systems will always remain in place (even with the little wings that are appearing now). I went for the Simpson Hybrid Sport as the best compromise for the mix of racing I do (3 point belts as driver or passenger, 5 point as driver, 6 point driving wings and slicks open-wheeler). For the 3 point scenario I was mainly after some additional side protection. Don't believe it has been scientifically tested for a 3-point as that isn't its main goal but it certainly feels like it would help if it came down to it. Kind of an off-label prescription maybe.

Not true. Plenty of us in sports prototypes and formula cars with no halo seats. cG of the vehicle, cockpit dimensions all differ.

I wore open face, thirty years ago...

Head and neck restraints are VERY important, but must be matched with the driver restraint system, one that is properly installed.

Since this old thread has been revived, I'll add that open face helmets may not be used at New Jersey Motorsports Park per NJ law.

Wow - another example of a good idea but an over-reaching government.
Do they require that the shields be closed?

It's not over-reaching to require a helmet but it is over-reaching to require a reasonable style of helmet?

There may be some alternatives to HANS but I am curious if there is a "Best" combination for Porsche HPDE and club racing?

I have a HANS device with a full face helmet and have two halo seats on order. My belts expire next year so I have been trying to find what would be best for me.

My friend showed me some gruesome pictures of the damage done to a driver's "junk" from the harness belt. Pro tip - never ever google "******** deglove" after eating. Think of it as popping a grape out of its skin. Yes - I would like my harness belt not to do this to me.

Note to Luigi: Get a 6-point system and have it professionally fitted and installed. Your ******* will have its best chance of staying intact this way.

I have GForce 6 pts installed IAW manufacturer recommendations and in my opinion, they may as well be 5pts. There it not enough erm, split, between the sub straps to fit one's manhood.

Profi's look like they would be better in this regard.

I don't recall commenting on that, but then, maybe it was someone else.

Without Halo, I'd say a Simpson or Necksgen may be a better choice, but this is based just on my own research which led me to buy a necksgen for DE and club racing usage
