Default Hankook's on National Backorder

The Z214 C51 275/35-18's are on backorder with no ETA from Hankook (at least this is what I am being told). Does anyone know of a vendor that has them in-stock?

I get mine from the local Discount Tire. I called and they said they could get your size in 5 days. There probably at the distributor in Ocala or Jacksonville.

(at least that is what he said)

Let me know if you're successful with Discount Tire. I called them a couple of weeks ago, along with half a dozen other distributors, and none of them have the 275-35/18 C51 compound in stock, nor an ETA. The shortage is particular to that size, that compound. Tire Rack told me they contacted Hankook USA and was told to expect shipments in June.
My info is about 2 weeks old -- maybe something's changed???
Jon.

No luck. They have the C71 but not the C51. I have been told to "call back every couple of weeks." No one seems to know for sure when they will have stock. I think I am going to go with the BFG R1's at least for the beginning of the season until these are in stock again. I heard something along these lines happened at the beginning of last year as well with Hankook.

This is exactly my experience a month ago. I went with the BFG R1 also.

C51's in pretty much any size are non-existant. Not sure why. Maybe North Korea snuck over the DMZ, stole them all, and sent them up in that POS rocket they launched the other day. I have some 245-40-17's on order for like 3 months, allegedly will be here in late May according to Tire Rack. Believe it when I see it.

Latest update from TireRack: Z214 275-35 C51 tires I ordered a few months ago will not be available in June. Hankook did not issue an updated ETA.

They do have C91s if anyone's interested -- they're probably good for a few laps.

I was told that makers of tires that seem to have annual shortages (kumho being one) make a huge batch of tires that they predict will sell. Sometimes they fall short. Sometimes they are stuck with odd sizes. That's why you can buy a new kumho and have an old date stamp or buy a bunch of kumhos over several months and see a similar date stamp. Hoosier on the other hand you pay top dollar for and they are always fresh when purchased from the right places like Hoosier west. A new old stock tire is a luxury. A fresh tire is nirvana.

I keep checking back with Tire Rack and others and get the same answer - nobody knows an ETA.

A quick glance of our inventory shows only about 25% of available sizes are not in stock. I'm sorry the ones you do need are not. Hankook is a tough cookie to get answers out of. We are continuously asking for ETA updates from them.
