Default driving suit - TPP Rating

Is a greater tpp rating more fire resistant? Looking for a suit which offers good protection at a reasonable price. Would rather sweat than burn. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Problem is a number of mfrs. don't release the TPP rating. It's just a more accurate numerical system to time over the SFI-1, 5, 10, 20. Higher TPP is more time.

Most of the suits we run are rated in the 10-20 second range (SFI 3.2/5). Underwear adds a few more seconds.

Other important things is fit (too small decreases the burn time), making sure that you don't have any gaps in any circumstances at the wrists and ankles, and wearing a balaclava (2 small eyehole offers more protection).

Agree with the issue of gaps. Wear high top shoes with the suit tucked in, gloves with cuffs to cover the wrists, and a balaclava plus high neck underwear.....cool suit if it's hot. Cut the hole for the cool suit tubes inside a pocket so there is no gap there either. Not sure what else you can do....good idea to practice getting out of the car in a hurry....

You can probably request TPP results from SFI, they have the data from every suit with an SFI rating.

Most comfort, with the highest TPP will be the safest. Wearing an SFI-20 suit for road racing is not needed to achieve proper level of safety.

We rely on safety crews and corner workers to get to cars that crash quickly...god forbid the driver is knocked unconscious, thats the worst situation. But if you are alert and awake and not too injured to get out of the car - you should be able to get out quick enough to not have to test the last few seconds of the burn time (tpp rating).
