That's great news - I always thought of it as Sears Point. Hope this doesn't cause them any financial problems.

Maybe Sears will sponsor them now.

Let us hope that Whirlpool doesn't make the cut.

After 10 years, I never knew who Infineon was, other than some tech company. $35 million marketing dollars well spent!

I didn't even realize it was the same "company"... and I'm in tech, living in the Bay Area. Ayy..

I remember when they changed the name to "Northern California International Raceway."

This reminds me of a conversation that took place between a friend of mine and a shop owner:

Shop owner: So you've driven at Sears Point?
Friend: No, but I've driven at Thunderhill and Infineon.
Shop owner: Right, so you've driven Sears Point.
Friend: No, I don't know where that is.
Shop owner: Sears Point and Infineon is the same track!
Friend: Oh...I never heard it called that.

Sears Point will always be Sears Point regardless of the silly aliases they want to call it or whatever company spends millions to brand it.

i never stopped calling it sears point!
im not a big fan of the corporate sponsorship changing the name. Putting the name in front is fine, but keep the name!

It was the first track I ever drove on and grew up hanging out in that paddock , back before they paved it and put in the garages. It will ALWAYS be Sears Point to me...

Like what they've just done with Canadian Tire Motorsports Park nee Mosport...I've been going there since I was 16 years old which adds up to....ahh, never mind....point is, it always was and always will be Mosport to me.

Just like the upper tier of NASCAR will always be(to me) Winston Cup and CART/IRL will always be Indy Car....and I always thought IMSA was a great "racing" moniker.
I did the first half of my SCCA licensing school at Sears Point (20+years ago) and still have their bumper sticker which says "Get to the Point".
