Let Bernie pull the plug and move the race somewhere else. I hear that Indianapolis could host a race in an emergency
Reductions in grandstands, track access... What an embarrassment.
And they laughed at the Koreans painting sand green like grass...

Tavo can bitch and throw lawsuits but as long as CotA and Bernie have a contract I don't see how he stops the show.
Love the part where he claims he was never fired and never resigned. Doesn't really matter if his production company isn't a party to the contracts...

From Wikipedia entry for Circuit of the Americas (two articles quoted):
On December 7, 2011, the World Motorsport Council released the final calendar for the 2012 season, with the Circuit of the Americas retaining its November 18 date. Further details revealed that the race investors, McCombs and Epstein, had reached a new arrangement with Ecclestone.[23] There are no reports supporting Tavo Hellmund's continued involvement under the new contract. Work on the track was scheduled to resume immediately. As a part of the arrangement, organizers paid the sanctioning fee for the 2012 race one year in advance as a show of good faith.[24]

The gas line really doesn't have anything to do with Tavo's Full Throttle Productions as far as I can tell. He was the "Promoter" and originally had the contract with F1 to hold the race at the track (aka Bernie). That was BEFORE he was in breach of contract with Bernie (~May 2011) and CotA negotiated a new contract directly with F1.
The track owners (Epstein and McCombs) should have born all the costs for additional earth moving and gas line rerouting. It sounds like the gas line and grading stuff is being thrown into the lawsuit to claim that Epstein and McCombs are incompetent. Doesn't seem to be relevant to the contractual issues...

Here is what the suit is about fellows. See what they can put togehter during discovery to try to get later .
"Hellmund had an agreement for an $18 million buyout that was not fulfilled and that he was scheduled to make $500,000 a year for 10 years as chairman of the F1 U.S. Grand Prix
Through the suit, Hellmund also might seek to regain management control of the project: " ..................
My guess is he is going to go away unhappy. If you have to add incidental fluff like reduction of faciilites, and emergency routes to your suit you dont have a lot.

Regarding claims in lawsuits, I tend to reserve judgement until I have read the filings, which in this case I have no interest in doing. I also have no interest in attending the race.
Of course, using the logic usually applied to driver/track threads in this forum, since I have never built a race track, I am unqualified to comment.
However, I did build some pretty neat slot car tracks and Hot Wheel tracks back when I was a kid and I did stay a Holiday Inn Express last night.....

Why no interest in attending? Don't like F1, would you rather travel to another country to watch it?
The politics and BS has been truly retarded but I can't wait to see F1 on a purpose built F1 track in the US (i.e., not the crap at Indy)

My boys and I were talking about this last night. Come hell or high water we'll be there.
