If I live that long I hope I have the same zest for cars and life as she does.

The best of what the motor city brought to American life in the midwest. Great people and wonderful cars (at least until the 70's).

How cool was that! She even puts a cloth down on the running board to step on when she gets in the car!

Thanks for the link, that is marvelous reminder of how much the world has gone forwards and backwards.

What a great life she's living. I imagine there was a time when it would have been extraordinary for a woman to be driving at all. She must have some strength in her to take the steering wheel or work the clutch, let alone get anything to happen with the brake pedal.

It's been decades since I drove a pre war car, but you know they maneuver with the agility of a train on tracks, they go forward with the ponderous lethargy of waiting for an ocean liner to weigh anchor, and applying the brakes is little more than a polite suggestion, having no discernible influence on the vehicle.

You've really got to admire her on so many counts. She's so articulate and alert. It really makes you wonder why someone who is so lucid and focused past the century mark isn't surrounded by scientists trying to figure out how to help the rest of us just find our keys at not even half her age.
