Thanks for clarifying.

I'm in the market for a data logger/camera setup, so will e-mail Jerry for some info.

I received mine Tuesday and installed it last night. Will be taking it to the track tomorrow.

The one thing I'm not clear on is whether the unit has accelerometers or not. I've never been convinced that they are necessary, anyway, since acceleration can be derived from position and time (from the GPS).

Only pity thus far - AIM deciding to go with a non-standard mounting template insead of a standard like AMPS. The included bracket doesn't line up with anything other than their mount and I have no idea what the threaded inserts in the back line up with. Time to build an adapter plateAt least the thread matches the provided screws...

Default SOLO mount

The adapter plate mounts nicely on the RAM mount. Not sure what the 4 screws are for. They seem too long for the holes on the back of the SOLO. What is the standard "AMPS" that you mention. I'd make and adapter to include with SOLO if there is something standard

Yeah, on my unit the four holes don't align with the adapter plate so no clue there. AMPS is a standard for mounting electronics, examples include mounts from Panavise. Seems this is a common mounting method for mobile phones & GPS. With RAM diamond being the other I guess they just chose, though if they'd drilled their adapter for AMPS it would've been a beautiful thing...

And it looks like the US version still doesn't have a complete set of track maps - didn't recognize Sears Point today...

Default Sears Point

I just checked the AIM list and you are correct, no Sears Point. There are many smaller tracks in the US but I would have expected Sears Point to be in there. Hopefully you were able to add the start finish line as shown in the user manual (see below).

Beyond that, if you go to Google Earth and zoom into the start finish, you can build a track inot the database. If someone can send me the coordinates of Sears Point (see the second image, I'll need Lat. Long. and Alt.), I'll try to get AIM to add it to their database.

Doh... Had to grab a copy of GPS Manager - they do have it but use it's current name: Infineon, guess I just need to load it up for next outing. That would be a PEBKAC error... for non-computer types: Problem Exists Between Keyboard and Chair

Yes. I used RaceRender to make this video (I should have captured the video at a higher data rate).

I'm very happy with the Solo. It seems to do everything a Traqmate does for 40% of the cost.

(I apologize that this is a bit of a cross-post, but it seems to make sense in both threads).

Can you put a timer on the video? How friendly is the dataplotting? I do agree that it does a lot of what traqmate does, the only problem I see is that I'd want the DL version. I'm happy with my traqmate, but I have advised this unit to a few friends.

are there any adapters/mounts to get this device mounted elsewhere than on a suction mount on a windshield, in a car with full interior?

Does anyone know how long last lap time can be displayed on the Solo?
I used a Starlane Sealth last weekend and the display would only be held for 30 seconds. At CMP, it was difficult for me to sneak a look within those 30 seconds.

Don't close your eyes when braking at the end of the straight.
Seriously, 30 seconds is a very long hold for last lap time. Most displays update to the current lap in a lot less time than that.
