Default Std GT3 banned from Goodwood!

Read the story about GT3 open track weekend in 911 & Porsche World mag. I was really surprised, that the author was kicked out from Goodwood OT event because of noise limits, having stock exhaust 997 GT3. GT3 should define proper weekend racer, i think.

I wondered also about measurement method. They asked to rev up to 6000 RPM. GT3's redline is 8400 rpm, so it was basically 71% of redline. 2/3-rds is 67%.

I was quite surprised std GT3 being banned from open track event. Where the world is going?

i wonder if it was on 'Sport' or normal? the 997 i drove was much much quieter when the Sport button was not engaged (of course, it sounded like SEX when it was engaged!!!!)

Noise reg's at Goodwood are among the strictest in the UK. And getting past the static test is only half the battle. The on track monitors are beamed directly to the offices of the local council, who are then able to determine for themselves whether or not the reg's are being followed. So Goodwood has no option other than going along with it or being shut down. Black flags are fairly common (koff, koff).
