Drove over to Sebring to visit with buds and affirmed my hate for love-bugs. Decided to toss the pressure washer in the rig for next weekend to blast off the little b@stards after arriving and between sessions.

Drove the rental car from Englewood to Sebring on Sat ! These things are much worse than black flies but at least they don't bite. I am told if you don't clean off the guts it burns the paint. I'll be heading back to Sebring next weekend

they were pretty bad this weekend. Quite the volume to wash off after getting home on Saturday.
Luckily - we should be towards the end of love bug season - at least until the smaller season in the fall.
and yes - if you don't wash off - they will eat into the paint.

I have driven through love bugs a few times too many. Impressive to say the least.
There is a water based solution that some autobody shops use as a mask for cars to protect from overspray. You spray or roll it on and it drys to a translusent film. It washes off with water. Might be worth the effort for the buggy days.

I just bought 4 cans of this:
Water/rain will not remove it, but with soap and water, it comes right off, with all the love bugs.

I tried WD40 with limited success.
I tried a bug spray blanket that dried - that worked pretty good - but haven't seen it for sale this year.
I know the boat delivery guys will put a coat of wax on - then spray dishwater detergent(thick)and let it dry. then the spray off at the other end.
One of the guys in a GTO had a plastic sticky sheet on the front of his car. Should have taken a picture

People are saying that Johnson's ( not the generic) baby shampoo works well to take off the bugs.
Walmart is sold out so it must work.
I noticed the GTO as well when it was parked so I looked in back of the car and saw a box of this stuff

Those rough sponges the had at the track worked pretty well and didn't damage the paint
