Default Time for a new helmet?

Probably time for a new helmet for many of us. With the difficulty of being able to physically try them on, curious what most people are finding. In talking with suppliers, the weights have come way down compared to my old Bell M2.

My problem is I am between sizes with Bell and forced to go upper end for more specific size options or change brands to either HJC or Sparco. Arai's I have tried in the past didn't fit my roundish gord to well.

I just got myself a Sparco Titan ADV. It is the top of the line Sparco, SA 2005 AND FIA rated. It was the lightest helmet I could find on the market. I love it, and got about $500 off of the $1200 retail during the helmet sales around new years.
I lucked out in the fact I didn't try on that specific model, just another Sparco of the same size. Fits me better than the last helmet I used for years, and feels MUCH lighter(like my wallet).
Got mine at Werks II Motorsport from Jackie. OG Racing had them on sale as well I believe.

Picking up my HJC AR10-B (AR10-II) helmet this week from Stable after they install the H&N anchors. Matt Black.

Tried it on and it is SA2010.

Cost: $312. It is fiberglass, not carbon fiber, but I can deal with the extra lb or two.

I just got a Pyrotech CF and have always had Bell. I find the Pyrotech large to fit me a lot better (snug) than a Bell of the same size.. YMMV of course.

BELL or HJC would be good ones to consider since you are already familiar with BELL. The BELL Sport is nice and fairly inexpensive. The BELL M.4 is an upgrade but it's not really much lighter than the Sport. However, the chin area is cut out for mic installation and the liner is a little more plush. The HJC AR 10-II is nice and the liner is actually removable for cleaning.

We can install HANS anchors in whatever you need as well.

Gary,
I'm curious to know how the fit of the Pyrotech is better. Is it tighter along the sides than the Bell? I determined that my head is too narrow for the Bell.

Trying to determine if I should bother ordering one, or if I'll just be returning it, after a test fit.

Thanks,
Jon

Good article HERE in Circle Track magazine.

See page three of the article where an M rated helmet is fully engulfed in fire in 20 seconds. Cheek pads on fire in 6 seconds from a bic lighter.

Also an SA helmet is made for multiple rollbar hits but not to slide down a highway. An M helmet is made for one impact and a slide (more or less).

The other thing I picked up on here and from Snell is that the 2010 standard is very different from 2005. It is simply a better helmet.

Good stuff. I now have a 2010 Bell M4 which has a wider viewing port that I like but it fit like a glove.

+1 On the article. I tried on a friends large K1 bell today (2005) and it is liter than my 2000 small M2. So a med 2010 might just work well in another bell or HJC. Z- man did you come from a bell? If so is the fit the same as your HJC. i understand the weight of the HJC is @ 3 1/2 pounds.
