Glasses inside helmet?
Hi -
I was wondering if anyone here wears glasses inside their helmet and if yes, how do they get them to fit comfortably? Is it simply a function of cutting some of the foam liner away? Is it OK to do that?
I have some cheapie metal framed (nonprescription) sunglasses I've been using. With them, I'm not afraid to just bend them to fit - plus they have really thin ear pieces and frame.
I recently got glasses w/a prescription. While not mandatory for me (yet), it sure would be nice to be able to see as well as I can!
I'd love some tips.
Thanks,
Tom

yeah. I have to wear both prescription glasses or sunglasses. My helmet is a very tight fit and i've bent the eyeglass stems and/or broken my eyeglasses due to tight fit. I just have to insert them slowly, but I really wish there was a better solution.
But either way, I have think stems on the glasses due to the pressure the sides of the helmet exerts.

As long as you remember to put them on AFTER the helmet, and take them off BEFORE the helmet, then you should be OK. I've had some glasses that seem to want to ride up b/c of the foam on the side, but it's very minor. If your helmet is moving your glasses a lot, then you may just need to work on the arms of the glasses, or try other glasses.

I have a plain metal framed prescription pair that I had with me at the helmet "fitting" made sure I could get them in after putting on my helmet. Now I just need to remember to take those to the track instead of the "good" pair

I've seen some people wearing frames that are wider across the front than they should be for their head size. I also had glasses that were too wide; I had to be very careful slipping them in through the helmet eye port. Once I got frames with the correct width for my head, they easily slid through the eye port.
The other factor is the helmet's eye port. Some are made wider for glasses wearers. The Simpson Voyager works well for me.

I've worn Ray Ban Aviator glasses under a variety of motorcycle helmets, and they go in easy, and are rugged. You can get them with the "sabre" ended wings, to ease insertion.
As noted above, you put them on after the helmet is on.

I wear metal frame glasses when I drive. I put on the helmet w/o strapping, slide glasses through eyeport while lifting helmet a little with my shoulders, then strap helmet. No problem.

Sure.. I have have two pairs of glasses that I carry with me that are narrow enough to fit inside the helmet. I have sun glass clips for both pairs so I can pop them off even while helmeted.

I wear glasses all the time and have multiple pairs I wear with my helmets. I've never had an significant issue but it's much easier to use glasses that do not wrap tightly and closely to the back of the ear. Firm/strong and straight side pieces work better than soft bendable ones. The other obvious choice not yet mentioned is to get a helmet designed for glasses (with a bigger eye port). My glasses work fine in my normal Arai helmet but better in the wide one.

I wear my bifocals (yeah, go ahead and laugh) inside my helmet with no problem. I hang them on the steering wheel while I pull my helmet on. Now I'm wondering if my helmet is too loose after reading this thread!
