Claiming that Alonso kept Ferrari in the fight is relative. Are they in the fight (mathematically) right now? Yes. Is he way ahead of Massa in the points, even if he had finished second in Germany? Yes. Did he throw away many opportunities that would have made the title chase really interesting? Absolutely. It's all relative...

Why not?

Because it's different.

How?

It just is.

Massa was blocking ...... see a difference!!!!

Alonso never needed or got team orders to win this WDC , nor does Webbo. If Vettel had won this years WDC he would have been an Faux champion

1. Vettel is the slower driver , both Alonso and Webbo is the faster team driver.
2. The team helped him artificially from day 1 .
3. He was Finn's pick ...

FInn as an honorary amigo you know you only pick faux champions . Maybe the FInny want's to give us more inside info :p

Like when he told us Alonso would never go to Ferrari
Like when he told us Ferrari would never get rid of KR for FA
Like when he told us Kr was going no where
Like when he told us no way KR was leaving F1 for rallying ...

Ahhhhh Dah Finn ?

Ahhhh, all i see is glass houses , glass houses everywhere , everywhere..

Enduro:

Alonso is why Ferrari is still in, yes he has thrown away points , yes the team has thrown away points , after he wins this weekend , it will be more than just mathematics, it will be no 3 ............:biggulp:

Wayne, just an FYI, I'm def. a Ferrari fan, and as far as Alonso goes, to-ma-to to-mah-to, he's there, Ferrari's in the hunt, conceded. One problem for Ferrari is that I think Red Bull comes back with a vengence. It's been a while since they've had a track that suits the car. In fact, I think the last one that did was Germany and Ferrari won after because they'd made some great progress. But are you going to bet against Newey? That's all I'm asking. He didn't really do a ton to revise the car for Germany and it wouldn't suprise me if all he's doing is damage control at Spa and Monza. Unless RB continues to make bad starts or Rory Byrne is doing something for Ferrari, Alonso won't have the best car, maybe not even the second best. He's good, but better than Hamilton on street circuits? Don't think so. The other problem is engine reliability. Can you short shift at the end of the race to save wear and tear and still finish strong? I think he's in a must win situation and if that's the case, good luck at letting the motor sing its full song for much longer.

So, the $100,000 fine was just a charitable donation?

That's good to know, I thought for a moment that was an example of team orders when Massa pulled over so he could talk to Smedley on the radio and not worry about anyone tailgating him.

Anywho: Engine Updates and who has used what:

Technical update: Engines used so far
21 September 2010

Since the start of the 2009 campaign, each driver has been allocated the use of eight engines per season, with the order of the powerplants undetermined. With only the five season-ending ‘flyaway’ races to go, we take a look at the figures.

As compiled by the official F1 website, the digits show that the Sauber of Nick Heidfeld (formerly Pedro de la Rosa’s car) is now on its ninth engine and for that reason took a 10-place grid drop penalty at Spa two races ago.

Ferrari are now on their eighth units although previous engines can be used without incurring a penalty. Four drivers have fired up only six engines so far: World Championship leader Mark Webber, Rubens Barrichello and the Renault pairing.

Engine usage up to and including the Italian Grand Prix:

Mark Webber / Red Bull-Renault 6
Lewis Hamilton / McLaren-Mercedes 7
Fernando Alonso / Ferrari 8
Jenson Button / McLaren-Mercedes 7
Sebastian Vettel / Red Bull-Renault 7
Felipe Massa / Ferrari 8
Nico Rosberg / Mercedes GP 7
Robert Kubica / Renault 6
Michael Schumacher / Mercedes GP 7
Adrian Sutil / Force India-Mercedes 7
Rubens Barrichello / Williams-Cosworth 6
Kamui Kobayashi / Sauber-Ferrari 7
Vitaly Petrov / Renault 6
Nico Hülkenberg / Williams-Cosworth 7
Vitantonio Liuzzi / Force India-Mercedes 7
Sébastien Buemi / Toro Rosso-Ferrari 7
Jaime Alguersuari / Toro Rosso-Ferrari 7
Heikki Kovalainen / Lotus-Cosworth 7
Lucas di Grassi / Virgin-Cosworth 7
Jarno Trulli / Lotus-Cosworth 7
Timo Glock / Virgin-Cosworth 7
Bruno Senna / Hispania-Cosworth 7
Sakon Yamamoto / Hispania-Cosworth 7
Nick Heidfeld / Sauber-Ferrari 9 OVER THE LIMIT

Odds on all 5 drivers still in it

TO Win the race this weekend:

Vettel: 3 to 1

Webber: 4 to 1

Hamilton: 5 to 1

Alonso: 5 to 1

Button: 8.5 to 1

From what you've posted, it would appear as though the Renault is reliable...too reliable in order to qualify for a Ferrari "reliability upgrade" from the FIA/FOM.

Massa had to lower the revs and let Alonso by, but that doesn't make Alonso a faux WDC. Why? Because.

And as already said earlier, I can only imagine Wayne's ramblings if it was Webber who had "engine problems" at Monza and had to slow down to let Vettel by... :roflmao:

I agree; although, Massa could squeeze in. It is my impression that Alonso and Ferrari have been on a building mission from the beginning of the season. The car is where they want it and Fernando is on a hot streak. Singapore is a very fast track, much like Monza, and with the straight away speed that Ferrari has will be the difference. You can never count out McLaren / MBZ with both Hamilton and Button who are both world champions and very capable of winning at any time. Just my .02 cents:thumbup::thumbup:

Clearly a brilliant tactician, since there is no limit on chassis

The same could be said for the other teams as well, perhaps with the exception of RBR, since their car was just good straight away.

In fact, you could argue that the pace of Lotus development (based on % lap time improvement) has outpaced even Ferrari.

It now seems as though the Little Miss Sunshine virus, first identified in Sir A.Wayne, is slowly spreading in the forum...

But that's not the case, is it? Singapore is a high downforce, twisty street course with very little in the way of straights. If Hungary were any indication of what to expect, RBR runs away with this one.

Hows Vettel working out ........

You have the guy who is so far behind in the WDC and slower at every track to be giving Alonso help ...I guess it hurts to see how much slower Massa is than Alonso , especially after seeing how much faster he was than Kimi ...

I told yah Massa was faster than KR, as was Montoya before ... tsk tsk...

Soon it will be time for the Drinks Truck to collect Finn...open the cellar :biggulp:
