Default Spring Compressor Tool

Anyone here use one? I tried going to Autozone to use one of their loaners but it doesn't compress low enough for short coilover springs. I would like to be able to compress and change springs quickly and easily as I try a few different setups.

Not enough droop in the suspension to get them off as is.

TIA

hi. maybe i'm not understanding this correctly? with a typical coilover setup (with adjustable perches) can't you just thread the lower perch down a little bit and release the tension? then take off the upper mount and take the spring off that way? that's how i've always done it (about a 100 times). the only time i've ever used a spring compressor was when changing shocks on a MacStrut front suspension (stock - non coilover).

good luck

Yes, but I'm trying to do it without removing from vehicle
AND
Without undoing control arms.

I had to remove the complete system and then compress the springs to remove...which will probably necesssitate the need for an allingnment when done.

um, there is no way that i know of that you can remove the springs without first removing the coilover (shock/spring combination). am i not getting something here? (i might be totally misunderstanding). i know of no way to change the springs without taking the top mount apart off the coilover (i usually use and impact wrench set on fairly 'low' to do this)....
