3/4 mile straight? I guess they won't be having a LeMons race there. It would eleiminate half the field on the first lap.

Agree, it looks boring and like there will be no passing. I like some of his other designs better. The two center sections look like parade lap central and honestly I don't think there will be much passing at this track.

But I wouldn't mind driving down to Austin to try it out. Finally a modern F1 quality (built) track near the southeast.

Awesome. If you look closely at the model, you can see the camber too. Sweet looking track. I hope they make the grounds like Barber or better yet, Spa.

Of all places, who in their right mind picks Austin? Love it or hate it, it's a "crunchy" community, and a dogged opposition to turning money and oil into noise and exhaust (our favorite things) was very predictable.

That last turn downhill to the start finish looks off camber. Should be lots of fun.

When I saw the first 2D image, I didn't like it, but after I saw this elevation and camber image, I think I like it a lot better.

What I'm looking for is distinctive overtaking opportunities. The back straight looks like it would be conducive to that. The front straight is a little strange in that it goes up hill going into T1. Most tracks go down hill on approach to T1 in hopes of catching some people out and leaving their braking late. We'll see I guess.

What is the track seating capacity going to be? I say we have a RL get together in 2012. Larry's buying the 1st round and there will be a BBQ at Dave's house for card carrying RL members after qualifying on Saturday, (hey, your the host).

The 3D model looks like an axe with a buckled handle and the aerial view looks like a microscope

LMAO!

Are people really this stupid??

Here's my favorite quote (link):

Let me also ask, what if they were to build the track around the pipelines, and then on the day of the big race, terrorists managed to compromise the pipelines and detonate them?

We're talking possibly hundreds of thousands of casualties. ... This is a very dumb place to have an F1 race.
I urge everyone to look through the photos section on that group.... I especially like the ones depicting the "decaying racetracks". Pretty funny stuff.

How about this quote:

"That's a very good point that not many are thinking about. If we open this track, people will die there. Period. "

That site is just further proof that Austin is f-n wacko. A small bastion of like minded people surrounded by guns and liberty. I feel for the good people that live there, it's a great city. Then again, I'm sure there is one in every neighborhood.

I can't tell you how pumped I am about this track, I may never get the chance to drive it, but I will be there watching others do it.
