Default Emergency egress issues with Cool Suit?

It just occurred to me... if you're using a cool suit, and you need to do an emergency exit of the car, you'll first have to undo the quick connects.

Has anyone had to do this in a real situation? Are the quick-disconnects just that? Do they really let go quickly when you press the button?

Or, in a real emergency, will the little tubes just tear apart. Obviously, if your car's on fire and your life's at stake, who cares if you destroy a $140 shirt...

I have not tried to rip mine apart, but I'm guessing that if I had to it would not be a problem. My tubes are 8 feet, which allows me to exit the car before having to disconnect them, so that is one less thing to undo before heading out the door.

You can buy quick disconnects that just pull out. You don't even need to touch them.

I had a real world situation where I felt there was the possibility of fire in my car from a gas leak and I got out of the car then disconnected them (didn't have the quick disconnects)

I like the thought of having extra length on the main tubes.

I'm pretty sure the newer designs are "breakaway" connections. So with enough force they actually unclip, and do not require a manual disconnect in the event of an emergency.

they do disconnect quickly, but the tabs are fairly small which would be a problem with limited visability and time . you'll have to practice release by feel, my hoses sare long enought to get out of the cabin

I can tell you from experience that the disconnects on the FAST version will tear apart without extreme effort and will not hinder the exit. A good sold tug will pull the fittings apart. I didn't do it in a fire but simply forgot to disconnect once when in a hurry to get out of the car and do tire temps. I now carry spare connectors in case I break them.

Do you stop to undo your radio as well? Drink tube? Same thing.

Coolsuit connectors aren't going to hold you in a car when there's a fire blazing. They'll pull apart one way or another. Adding them to your "routine" of getting out of the car in order to "save" your cool suit shirt would be wasting precious seconds that you don't have.

If you use the safety pull connector kit, the lines will disconnect and not break. No manual disconnect needed.

Don't exaggerate, there was only about 8-10 gallons of gas dumped on the ground under your car, never any real danger...

I'm with Brian, they won't cause me one millisecond of pause in an emergency exit.
