TV in Race Trailer
Has anyone put a flat screen in their race trailer and is happy with how it went? My wife really wants one in our 28' hauler to help burn time at the track. Just having a hard time figuring out how to do it and so it is out of the way when not in use and keep it from getting trashed.
Thanks,
Rich

A standard wall mount (flat or articulated arm) secured to the wall/studs is fine.
I have a mount with a single retention screw on the bottom, so removing it from the wall takes less than a minute (if you want to store it in the original box/packaging) if you prefer to not leave it on the wall.
You can get an idea of which mount might be best for you here:

Nearly all flat panel TV's have a VESA mounting pattern on the back.
I would recommend an inverter type generator or at least a line surge supressor, depending on your generator.

I do have an inverter type generator so I am good there. I am trying to decide where to mount the TV as I have cabinets across the front so perhaps I mount it in the back and take it down when I am not using it as you mention. Keeping it in the box seems like a good idea and perhaps even haul it in my Excursion.

As I mentioned, you can purchase a wall mount that has a single bolt release from the wall bracket/anchor, making it easy to remove and pack/store.
Of course, once you have a TV, then the kids will bring along PS3, XBox, and then it's a lot harder to get them out of the trailer and onto the grid (stories from a former karting Dad).

Your local audio specialist can sort it out although they may not like it after the fact. I have a love/hate relationship after the specs I tendered (all good). Get the sat-tv so you can watch live as well as dvd (often watch F-1 quali at night). It is tremendous bench racing fun when you can put up your laps/race on the screen and have your peers "comment". As for the family make sure you have a screen inside so they can watch little bear or the fav dvd when you are on track.

I have a flat screen LCD in my trailer. I just mounted it up with a standard wall mount into the aluminum studs. It has worked well for about two years now. I generally watch movies off an iPhone on it at night at the track, but also have hooked up an XBox 360 and DirecTV tuner.

Last race for me I brought my 3 year old. I did not eletric power so I was somewhat limited.
However I took our portabe DVD player and put it inthe trailer on cot. She watch movies all day in the trailer. I powered it off of a simple 300 watt inverter pulled into the truck's cig lighter. Since that is a small unit it worked great. Not a good a proper flat screen, but still nice and perfect for a 3 year old.

One of our new racers in 944 Spec has a custom made mount that pivots from the side of the TV, allowing it to be up against the wall, swung out into the trailer, or swung around 180 degrees to face out the escape door, and be view in the paddock - thought that was a cool feature!

Rich - give me a call and I'll give you a run down on your options. I also have an off-air digital antenna that I am not using anymore that would come in handy for you. I used it to pull down the local networks hi-def signals before going the DirecTV route.
