I did not understand his answer to #4. Is that no for if it is soon.
Also, I put up a separate post asking if anyone has experience with the Chasecam DM10. Looks very interesting for $490 if you already have a Chasecam PVR.

The question could be read as a new version of Smartycam without GPS and he responds that the new version will have internal and external antennas. At least that's what I"m getting out of it.

This is my mounting setup...
Just need to make a anti vibration cradle as per AIM website. These are RAM mounts which I bought from a local GPS accessory shop for 50 pounds in total.
I have been testing and playing with the cam today in te road car just making sure I know how it all works when I put it on the race car.
I have a few questions, why is the picture zagged? ie if you look at the lines they appear to be made of square blocks and look somewhat odd.
Also the live view mode in smartycam manager looks horrible very poor quality.

Three Wheelin'
New Smarty Cam available
I received a shipment of two SmartyCams with GPS today. I've included a photo so you can see that they added a second data port for the GPS antenna. They are for sale for $999 shipped to the US only.

No, the only difference is the external jack for the GPS antennae. If you are having trouble acquiring a signal I would contact AIM USA and see about an exchange or retrofit. If you have an MXL w/GPS and already have an external antennae the SmartyCam will default to the strongest signal (or so i'm told!).

I was told by AIM that they are making a retrofit kit and they will upgrade the early units at their shop(s). I did not ask if they will do it for free, lets hope.
