The F1 Spring Training, errr Pre-Season Testing, Thread
So after the first day it looks like the Ferrari isn't that slow, Schumacher is fast, and since nobody knows what fuel loads the cars were carrying the timing can be taken with a grain of salt
Provisional Mid-Afternoon Fastest Laps Chart
1) Pedro De la Rosa Sauber 1:12.784
2) Felipe Massa Ferrari 1:12.842
3) Michael Schumacher Mercedes 1:13.449
4) Nico Rosberg Mercedes GP 1:13.543
5) Gary Paffet McLaren 1:13.846
6) Rubens Barrichello Williams 1:14. 449
7) Robert Kubica Renault 1:15.298
8) Sebastian Buemi Toro Rosso 1:19.279
It's good to see Schumacher and Massa back!

I'm opposed to the difference in points btw 1st and 2nd place wins (25/18). If someone runs away with a bunch of wins, it almost guarantees everyone behind throws in the towel.

The new points structure seems to harken back to the old days when 1st place was 1.5x the 2nd place points and 2nd was 1.5x third. Yes, it can reward a victory streak like Button had last year (didn't he win anyway?) but it can also allow a driver who puts together a late season charge to make up a lot of points quickly. That could keep a few more drivers in the hunt right up to the end. And it does reward going for the win over settling for points.

Someone did an analysis from 2009's scores and there were no classification changes (at least the top 6 positions in the championship)...
OH, and here's these from today's testing. Note that Alonso did fastest run in about the fewest laps

Interesting how well BMW/Sauber is doing. Would love to know fuel loads. For testing, I'd expect teams to want to use full fuel since that's a new thing this year and important for the first part of the race when leads are built....

Let's think logically. You and I know they are not out there on only light fuel loads given the 2010 regs.
I know it kills you Lewis, but the Ferrari is better than y'all thought it would be. Have solice in the fact Alonso had nothing to do with it's developement.

Interestingly though, Ferrari has been by far the fastest on light fuel loads but when on full tanks, times have been much closer between the teams.
