Thanks Christian. Finding out the road is closed at 5am on Wednesday morning would have really sucked.

So from Orlando, is the alternate route to take 91(FTP) down to Yeehaw junction and then take 60 over to Frostproof/27? Any idea how long that takes? Or is there a way to just circumvent Lake Wales on 27?

It looks like N. Scenic Hwy rides right along 27 through Lake Wales. Can you pick that up in Dundee and take it down until it dead ends at ABC Rd?

Looks like it is south of Hwy 60

US 27 Both ways between HUNT BROTHERS RD and CR 640:
Closed due to road surface collapse: TWO SINKHOLES
http://www.baynews9.com/RealTimeTraffic.html Might have to scroll around on the map to find US 27 in Polk County

If you go to Yeehaw Junction, take 441 south to 68 to 98. It should be about an hour from Yeehaw Junction to the track. There's nothing out there but cows for 60 miles.

Thanks for the baynews link. Was trying to find the exact roads that were open/closed. Looks like it should be pretty quick to just take 27 to Hunt Brothers, jump over to 17south to where it has the intersection with County Rd640, then back to 27.. Should only add a few minutes to the trip pending traffic.

For those trying to figure out where County Rd640 is on google maps. it is the same as ABC Rd, Alturas Babson Park Cutoff, Pine Crest Rd, etc... You just have to zoom way in for google to show it as CR640. It is the intersection where Fat Boys BBQ is on 27.

Chris W:

Not sure of your 20 but these things take time especially when they crack the pavement. They are currently using penetrating methods to proble the soft underlayment, whoops sorry Intercourse got me sidetracked. It will be days in all likelihood.

I would think that Poopoo, Hawaii might rate high on the list of funny town names.
