Default first weekend in the 914/6

Had my first track weekend in a 914/6 at VIR this past weekend. Was a great outing. Car will soon be sorted for next year!

John Forbes at Black Forest did a great job helping sort out this weekend as did my instructor Bob Saville.

Looking forward to next year! Car was a blast to drive, even without PSM (just kidding, dont flame me for that)

Dave

Are those straight pipes on there? My student and I were behind you a couple of times and it was LOUD. Looked good, though.

David is a quick learner. The car is going through a few teething issues for it's first weekend out in a long time, but will be a lot of fun once he gets the hang of what a 'momentum' car is all about. I just can't teach him all the secrets since he wants to eventually race in my class!!

Great weekend at VIR. Weather held up surprisingly well - couldn't ask for better in November....

Thanks. I think the secret to these cars (914) is it will stick a whole lot more than I think it will ... remember I've ridden in your car, so I know what its supposed to feel like in the seat when you get it right. May take me a while, but Ill gain on you sir..... (maybe after $15k in suspension work, but none the less )

I think you meant to say the secret is not using the middle pedal.

I thought, prior to 1998, that acronym stood for Preserving Speed w/ Momentum.

I think it was the extra weight in the car. The right side was very heavy and caused an uneven weight distribution. At least thats my story.

(ok , so at least I called it when we were sliding and knew I screwed it up...)

I have nothing else to say about that...

The cars got power, so brakes are definitely a must... just needs a few tweeks on the suspension.

I got my start at 18 in 1980. ANY six cylinder car was at the top of the time sheets. I'm sure almost none of the 356/912 guys had to brake for (old) T2 @ Laguna!

hmmm....1980...I was 13...
I didn't get started on the track until 1994, with a stock 2.0/4 - which has turned into Papa Smurf over time and LOTS of money (car in avatar)
