Autopower cages fit normal sized people. If you are very tall or short it just won't fit as well a custom job. This is not a fault of the autopower cage, but just a reality when trying one size fits all.

^ great looking cage, who made it? Just my $0.02, I would really want a halo seat with the triangulation bar next to your head (foam helps but only a bit!)

My '84 944. Dual 1.5 tubes instead of single 1.75 takes less space but increases strength.

Hmmm...

The 944 sill is narrow, but not THAT narrow. I never really considered it, and
I'm not sure why it was done, but I guess it works. 6-of-one, half-dozen-of-the-
other.

Lots of base plating needed. More profits!

^ Great cage!

Here is mine. I already hear some of you say that the nascar bars are too high, but it's fine with me. Plus I have lots of clearance on the left side. It's also welded to the rocker panels, roof, A and B pillars, some other places on the unibody and firewall. There is a bar that goes behind the dash too... Probably an overkill cage...

It was Built by Bill Doyle in Lynn Mass. http://cagethis.com/
the roof bars are a little close. I originally wanted halo seats, but with the door opening being so narrow, i cant get in and out of the car with them. Standard seats will have to do.

I like to be prepared just in case.
Actually i also am going to run some hillclimb events on mountain roads with trees and rocks which hurt a lot more than tire walls. Plus i come from a Rally background and dont always feel safe without a proper cage.
a few extra pounds into a good cage is well worth the cost in weight added to the car.

LOL. I thought the same thing when I saw his pics. A bit more than a few extra pounds, but...... seriously. Its a life saving device, so I don't knock the over built cages too much... I don't prefer one. But never would I knock it more than a nudge and a wink.

Mine is almost done. Welding in the pedal cluster before I weld in the Door bars. Ingress and egress for fitment of pedals will be much easier If I just wait a little.

What do we think about the difference between the A pillar bar coming down in front of the dash vs going through the dash? I am inclined to go for through the dash option. Just looks like you get a bit more room.
Any thoughts?

through the dash is better IMHO however when I looked at doing that there was no was of getting the dash bar behind the dash with the dash cluster and heater etc still in place which they need to be for stock race classes. I therefor went for infront of dash with a dash bar

Through the dash is much better.
That's why I started this thread as I wanted to re-do the front part of my cage and the door bars and was looking for some good designs to show a builder.
