Hotel/Motel Recommendation Near VIR

I'm looking for some hotel/motel recommendations close to VIR for the NASA OctoberFast Weekend (Oct 9,10 &11). Medium price range.

Thanks,

JF

JF, Camp!!! Seriously. The NASA paddock is great for entertainment. The rooms at VIR are likely full and it is a bit of a haul to the nearest hotel. Another option is a local rental house. Usually sleeps 4 to 5 and within 5mins of the track. I think www.staynearby.com was the link online.

Danville:
Sleep Inn, Best Western, Hampton Inn

OR - Just stay at the track - if they have rooms available - more expensive though - about $120/night approx

We are staying at the Sleep inn. It's the closest to the track . 79.00 per night and about 15 minutes away.

Camping sounds like fun. Are there decent showering facilities at the track ?

BrianKeithSmith 09-20-2009 10:51 AM

yes, decent # of showers at the track.

Heated (or cooled) showers. There are also some outside up near the top of the paddock that arent climate controlled. I'll be camping out.

The rooms at the track are SO worth it. Waking up 5 min before driver's meeting is a nice plus ;)

I just stayed at the Sleep Inn and would stay there again. Chinese and Italian food right next door. Food Lion, if you are so inclined, right behind it.

Stayed at the super 8 in Danville. ~$58 a night, totally acceptable, and clean. Resturant next door, and close to the newer part of town with lots of dining choices.

But far from the beer and partying :)

I have stayed at most of the hotels there. The Courtyard, Holiday Inn, Hampton, Sleep Inn, Comfort Inn, and Super 8 are the only ones I remember staying at but they were all decent. There is one that is under construction that apparently sucks now, but I can't remember which one it was. I think it was the Holiday Inn, but definitely not sure. The work may be done now anyway. The junkiest one is the best for partying since the only decent place to go is Ham's and it is right next door. I am staying at the courtyard with a friend this time. I think the best way to go and the most fun is to get a camper, but we didn't have enough going this time to do it. It is a lot of fun staying at the track.

P.S. Sorry if anyone thought the Super 8 was nice. It's not bad, but the others don't make me feel like I should ask for an hourly rate. Maybe not that bad, but definitely not a Courtyard.

closest/best place is staying at the track - pit suites, lodge rooms, or the villas (if you cram enough people in the villas, the price isnt too bad ;))

next closest - sleep inn or best western near the danville "airport"

others (further in to danville) - courtyard (very nice), holiday inn express (ok), hampton (never stayed there but should be fine), super 8 (**** hole last time i stayed there), days inn (or is it comfort inn? up on the hill behind the mexican restuarant...decent)

fortunately the stratford inn closed down...we stayed there last year for the 13 hr and it was super dicey...crack heads asking us for cigarettes at 6am

Thanks for all the replies, I got a "Race Fans Rate" @ the Best Western. Since this will be my 1st visit to VIR, I'm looking for an instructor to ride with me for a couple of sessions during Friday's open track test and tune. PM or email me at jfawsitt9@yahoo.com if you know VIR and can help. I'm racing in GTS 3 on Saturday and Sunday in my RS America.
