Default Torque or HP on the road course????? Which is better?

I know this can't be over simplified but which is better for road course duties? Let's say all else the same on one car. But the only differences are.

Car A (supercharged)

400 hp 396 torque

Rev limit 6100 rpm

Peak torque at 3800 rpm
Peak hp at 6000 rpm

Car B (N/A)

400 hp 300 torque

Rev limit 8400 rpm

Peak torque at 6100 rpm
Peak hp at 8200 rpm

I'm asking because of the statement that torque wins races, however noting that the high revving NA motor has it's place in history as well.

Discuss.

Accelleration comes from torque. In your example with 32% more torque in car A and equal HP I think it's an easy choice, car A. Redline really doesn't matter - the gearbox is adjusted for that. Real world when the compromise includes giving up some HP for the extra torque you may lose some top end and depending on the track that could be important
Cheers

Good question.

In your example:

Car A (supercharged)
400 hp 396 torque
Peak torque at 3800 rpm
Peak hp at 6000 rpm

Car B (N/A)
400 hp 300 torque
Peak torque at 6100 rpm
Peak hp at 8200 rpm

Both cars make same HP, but car A makes it much lower in the rev range, which is much more useful on a road course (IMO) especially a very technical one such as Barber. In addition, car A also makes peak torque (which is also a lot more than car B's) much MUCH lower in the revs, which is a lot more useful getting out of corners even on more open road courses such as Road Atlanta and VIR.

Now to make it more interesting-

What about an engine that makes 350hp/350tq?

You are a breathtaking moron, buddy. Way to compare apples to ashtrays. But then again, you have never been on a track at speed, have you?

Oh, and your boyfriend you quote in your signature line was never a student nor a friend. Way to make even more of an *** of yourself.

Assuming both cars weight the same .

Car A will come off the corners better , car B will be faster down the straights..

Euro type track with fast open corners and long straights , car B
Road Atlanta - Car A
Sebring - Car B
Daytona - Car - B

Not true at all. Depends on gearing and a lot of other factors as well.

Stick with OT, where you are at the peak of your intellect.
