OT: How much could a little ice hurt?
After listening to a night of something that sounded like non stop gunshots this is what we woke up to this in our front yard -
Fortunately no damage to the house and the cars, although there is hardly and undamaged tree in the yard. We cleared out the front by climbing the tree's, wrapping a chain around the branches, and yanking them off with the truck. Then copious amounts of chainsawing cleared out the rest. Of course there is still no power (on my laptop), and probably wont be for at least a day. In the last two pictures you can see a line across the road, and a snapped in half telephone pole upside down, with a transformer hanging off. Amazingly enough, 20 miles east and west, there is nothing close to the amount of damage.

As bad as it could have been, it looks freaking beautiful. Great pictures.

We had that here several years ago and some people were without power for 3 weeks (not good in winter). Ice buildup can do a lot of damage. Pretty though.

You have weak trees. Bad batch of resin mix or improper bonding of the CF sheets.
Maybe some AL strut bracing for the limbs would help.
Beautiful sight. But destructive.
Water is wonderful stuff till it solidifies on something that don't like weight.
Still remember those crazy crab fishermen on Deadliest Catch going on miserable ice breaking duty
so the upper half of the trawler doesn't get so heavy the boat flips over.
Good luck getting power back and salvaging your yard.

Powerwise it looks like it's still going to be a few days at least, so I'm going to be milking this charge on my laptop for a while.
